Every Tuesday, Thursday, and Sunday morning, we open up the church for folks to shower, do laundry, have a meal, use the computer, get help on the computer, and meet with some of our partners in the community. We can always use help in the kitchen, running the shower list, helping folks on the computer, or just hanging out and building relationships! If you have more questions or would be interested in helping out in some capacity, you can reach out to Pastor Michael Gienger. 

On Thursdays, from 8 - 10am, Central hosts Grace Clinic. Through partnership with UTMB and St. Vincent’s House, we provide healthcare to our uninsured and underinsured neighbors. If you’re interested in helping out or learning more, email Pastor Michael. 

On Tuesdays, from 8 - 11am, Grace Clinic transforms into a SUD clinic for under and uninsured patients of all ages to receive grant funded, medication assisted therapy treating substance use disorder. Patients can make appointments or simply walk-in to receive care via behavioral health and screening for rehab, social work and social services, and occupational therapy. Are you part of a group looking for volunteer opportunities that wants to help us feed our hungry neighbors? Consider providing food for lunch on a Tuesday or Thursday! Either bring things like sandwich ingredients, chip bags, etc. to then assemble at Central, or pre-warmed food like casseroles, pasta, or chili. Bring some extra hands to help prep and serve food to about 150 people from 11am-12pm. Serving food is a great opportunity for groups like Sunday school classes, youth groups, retreats, boy scouts and deeper groups! On Tuesdays, from 10am - 1pm, we run a bicycle repair ministry. Bikes are a vital resource in our community and are always getting flat tires and needing repairs. If you’re handy and have experience working on bicycles or are willing to learn, Joanna always needs assistance. If you’re not into fixing bikes, but would like to donate instead, we are always in need of bike locks, lights, and other parts necessary for repair. Email Joanna Bordelon for current donation needs. 

Our clothes closet operates on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 8-10am. With the help of our volunteers, clothing donations are organized by size and folks can come in and pick out an outfit, get necessities like underwear and socks and hygiene products like shampoo, razors and deodorant. If you have questions about current clothing needs, donating or volunteering, reach out to Pam Gilbert. If you're looking to donate clothes, you can drop them off at church Monday through Thursday between 9am and 1pm.

The Care Ministry Team is a support for our congregation whenever extra help or visits are needed. We might visit with a congregant at the hospital or at home to see what support they are currently needing and then provide that support with the help of our pastors. We may give a ride from the hospital, pick up groceries, make food and deliver, sign up on a food train when a baby is born, do some cleaning, watch the kids briefly, pray with the person in need, or just be a listener.  If you have questions or are interested in joining this team, you can reach out to Sandra Miller. 

We believe fellowship and fun are important parts of spiritual life. Which is why we have a Social Events Team dedicated to planning super fun ways for us to meet, in and outside our church building, and just have fun together! We celebrate holidays together, have Charity Trivia events at the brewery, board game nights and more! Are you passionate about party planning? Email Team Lead, Bryce Miller, about joining our Social Team and help us plan our next event! 

Once per month, we partner with Moody Methodist Church and the Galveston County Food Bank to distribute thousands of pounds of groceries to hundreds of families. We bag and sort food, register clients, and distribute food to clients’ cars as they come through. This is usually on the third Monday of every month, from about 3 - 7pm, but the date can sometimes change. You can reach out to Pastor Julia for info about the next mobile distribution event.
